“If your job is to sand and finish wood floors with a basic stain out of the can, they'd be great. They did nice work on my dad’s floors. My job required a custom color match, and I would not go with them again for specialized color work. I’ve done a lot of wood floor matching in different homes, but my experience this time was not great. When I asked if they could match my old white oak floors to the new (red oak) , Cameron Weeks said, “That’s what we do!” No one ever showed up with a color board or stain board or seemed to know much about stain color undertones etc. When we said multiple times that the stain color was way too light, the stain guy kept arguing it would be too dark. At every step of the process I spoke to someone about the fact that the color was waaay off. I ended up having to micromanage the addition of color to all 3 coats of poly!! By the third coat, I requested TWO capfuls of medium brown stain PLUS one of Jacobean to darken the floors. The guys looked at me like I was ruining their can of poly! Guess what? The floor finally matched really well. I’ve asked about how my floor will wear since the soooooo much of the color is in the poly rather than in the wood - I also asked if I needed a clear coat on top to prevent color wear- and I was told it will be fine. When a lot of your color is in the poly and not the wood itself, I guarantee I’ll have a problem. I could see the color in the poly lighten every time they buffed the floor. Alas - go with them for a basic job, but not for custom work. They aren’t artists like some floor guys. Photos show: 1. Their “idea of a “match” 2. After one requested capful (5-6 oz) of STAIN color to poly . 3. A second capful of stain to poly (Jacobean!) 4. My request of THREE capfuls OF brown and Jacobean - GREAT match in the end - but boy did I have to fight for it!”
